Why don’t more guitarists practice tiny phrases—just two notes? My guess: because it’s hard.
Without strong phrasing technique, even two notes can sound flat or lifeless. So here’s a challenge: Pick any jam track. Then limit yourself—to just two notes. Use every phrasing tool you’ve practiced, like: slides, bends, vibrato, tapping—whatever brings expression to your phrase.
Your goal? Say something with only those two notes. Make it convincing. Make it emotional. Do this for a few days. You might be surprised how much power you can pack into so little. Saying more with fewer notes—that’s a skill every great guitarist has.
